If you’re looking for a small wedding venue that most of your friends haven’t been to, may I suggest the beautifully chic Robertson Small Hotel?

Venue: What’s so great about the Robertson Small Hotel is that everything can take place within the hotel. There’s a beautiful, lush garden, a shady courtyard, a sparkling pool, a wide veranda and a restaurant – all the spaces you need for ceremony, reception and photos.
Most couples choose to get married on the lawn, with seating set up on the grass, and the bride and groom standing on the stoep of the veranda, or on the edge of the pool. A red carpet aisle or an aisle of flowers sets the scene, and it feels secluded even though it’s so central to Robertson.
A Bedouin tent from the stable rooms to the restaurant covers the courtyard for receptions, and you can choose to have up to 30 people on one long table, or a few smaller tables. Decorated with candles and flowers, the courtyard would look quite magical… While you take your photos, delicious canapés and drinks are served to your guests, with a small live band to entertain them if you wish.
Style: Traditional meets modern. The exterior is classic and elegant, the interior is modern and luxe. Greys and whites create a neutral palette that can take on the theme of your wedding, or keep it classic with little more than fresh flowers and candles.
Capacity: This is a small wedding venue, so there’s a max of 40 to 50 guests. It’s a good opportunity to only choose those who are most important to you. You can either book out the whole venue yourself or offer the option to friends to book their own rooms. The hotel itself can house a maximum of 20 to 22 people, in their fabulous rooms with every convenience and luxury known to man. You do need to book for two nights if it’s a wedding, but that gives you the opportunity to properly unwind and relax before the big day. May I suggest staying in one of the gorgeous poolside suites? They open directly on to the pool, and offer the perfect opportunity for a bit of night swimming or early morning laps to calm the mind…
Food: The restaurant is one of Reuben’s signature restaurants, so you’re guaranteed to have a meal that people will talk about for ages. The executive chef is very imaginative and open to new possibilities and will work with you to create the perfect menu. Meals are always plated, with two options for starters and mains, and a dessert of your choice – wedding cake and coffee or something more exciting.
What’s included: There are various packages to choose from. The day of the wedding, there’s a platter of snacks and a bottle of bubbly for the bride and bridesmaids (and for the lucky groom, if he’s also getting ready at the venue). All chairs, crockery, cutlery, tablecloths, glasses and waiting staff are included, and they have recommendations for everything, from flowers to tents and extra accommodation in the area. There are also two set-up meetings, where you can meet with Stefane, who takes care of all the wedding arrangements, and meet with the executive chef.
What you’ll love about it: Because it’s such a small hotel, it’s easy for them to tailor your wedding to suit you perfectly – there’s no cookie cutter wedding planning here. The space is so lovely and serene that it would be hard to get stressed out, especially with such a capable team on hand.
What’s missing: Nothing is missing, but this is obviously not the venue for you if you want more than 50 people – it’s for intimate gatherings.
If a unique wedding venue with plenty of personal attention is what you’re after, the Robertson Small Hotel might just be the place you’re looking for…
Until next time!
