• This week I was lucky enough to find my way to the Librisa Spa at the Mount Nelson with one of my besties, and I have to tell you we had the most amazing afternoon! You know one of those afternoons that feels magical as the memory is being made? One you’ll take about for months (and years) afterwards? We had one of those.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it seems that more and more brides are choosing to have a single bridesmaid – either a sister or a best friend to accompany them on the big day. It’s a more personal choice, in some ways, and one that seems to be gaining popularity. So I’ve been thinking about what you would want to do the week before the wedding if it’s just you and your bestie… And I’ve found the answer: Bliss For Two.

The Librisa Spa at the Mount Nelson Hotel is every bit as fabulous as you would expect from the Grand Dame – the Nellie. There’s something so luxurious about stepping into the Mount Nelson grounds, as if you’re joining rank with thousands of other lucky souls who have spent time at Cape Town’s most traditional hotel.

The Bliss For Two package is, well, blissful. You begin the afternoon in this beautiful conservatory, with soft light slanting in the windows, dried fruit and chilled water on hand, and comfortable loungers to get you in the nothing-to-do-but-relax mood. Then you’re taken to your therapy room, where 60 minutes of the finest massage await… This is a massage that’s all about relaxation. Yes, the therapist will work on your knots and ease the tension out of them, but it is first and foremost about making you feel as wonderful as you possibly can. On top of that, they use an incredible Africology body butter (ours was pineapple-coconut scented) that makes your skin feel silky smooth – perfect for the week before the wedding!

Once the massage was over, instead of that, ‘oh how sad, the treat has ended!’ feeling that I usually get after a spa treatment, a just-as-wonderful treat lay in store: high tea at the Mount Nelson. A veritable feast of beautifully made pastries, tarts, cakes, chocolates, macarons, scones, crumpets, sandwiches, pies and delicacies of every type was waiting for us to nibble on as we lounged on one of the cosy couches. There are also five pages (five!) of loos leaf teas to choose from – everything from various kinds of rooibos to teas from Sri Lanka, India, Kenya, China, Japan and Taiwan, as well as a whole range of fruit teas and the Mount Nelson Hotel Blend, a deliciously floral black tea. There’s really nothing to do but keep that blissful feeling going with endless cups of tea and delicate edible goodies.

For those brides looking for something that’s a complete spoil and will make you feel simply fabulous – check out Librisa Spa at the Mount Nelson. You’re guaranteed a golden afternoon if you do…
    Until next time!
    Much love,
    Bridget
