I love the pastel shades and vintage details used in this wedding. It’s clear that Leroi and Marioli have an immense capacity for fun and their wedding looks like it was such a party! Read all about their day below (as told by Marioli). The beautiful pix are by Splendid Productions.
We met through friends while i was on holiday from a contract teaching overseas. For the first year we had a long distance relationship and after becoming engaged in December 2011 we got married this past September.
My hometown is Ermelo, Mpumalanga, and I wanted to get married where I know a lot of people and a place which I am familiar with. We decided to get married in Chrissiesmeer, which is +- 40km from Ermelo on a beautiful little farm, Florence Guest Farm. We wanted something relaxed, where all the guests can dance and eat, and enjoy themselves in a not-uptight but still gorgeous venue. We also asked the guests to dress according to our theme: Vintage. And they all did, even the older guests.
All the planning started with a photographer, we choose Splendid Productions, because of the FUN photo’s, and we’re not the posing type couple. I also visited wedding blogs day in and day out to get ideas. Catherine’s Collection made my beautiful vintage dress for me, all the lace are imported from Barcelona Spain. For 9 months I went for several fittings to have a perfect fit.
We used a local florist from Ermelo to do the decor and flowers. We rented old trophies, and old cameras, a sewing machine, and old picture frames. We didn’t rent a single flowerpot since i’d been collecting coffee tins and glass jars for months before.
There were so many creative details included in our day. My friend and bridesmaid Nina made us a guestbook, with lace, and old paper and we bought a Polaroid Camera so guests could take pictures to stick into the book. We also had pins for all the guests, with their names on it, to wear during the night.
Our advice is: really ENJOY every moment of the planning, it is such a happy and exciting time! Everybody is happy with you and for you, and go out of their comfort zones to do things for you, really. Ask friends and family to help, and if they offer help, give them all tasks, it makes your work load lighter and you know they really want to make your special day, extra special.
Plan a little every day, literally, and you will barely have a stressed planning time ahead, just work and plan in advance. Also ask your fiancé to help with the planning. If you have organized bridesmaids ask them to help as well.
