And what a happy visit it was. Christo’s handhewn vessels, vases and bowls are individually made (no molds for him) and some (like my stout jar that I bought) have slight imperfections in colour that make them all the more unique. I’m in love with his celadon greeny blue glazes and the featherlike details on his bowls – yum!

Hello lovely ginger jar, I want to make you mine

Did I need a ginger jar? Hell, no. Did I want one…well, that’s a no brainer!

You can visit Christo at his studio (click here for details) or look out for him at the first Rondebosch Potter’s Market of the year on March 2oth. There are only two a year so be sure to diarise – it’s the perfect place to pick up great ceramic bargains.

Christo’s ginger jars start from R350 and his bowls from the R80 mark
