I want each and every one of these local finds that will inject a shot of personality to your home. They won’t break the bank either, ranging from R40 to R550. No installation or elbow grease required. Just add to the mix and hit refresh…
Beautiful hand-painted doorknobs to change the look of a door, cupboard or desk. Or on the wall as coat hooks. From a selection at Poetry for R40 each.
You know me and yellow. My favourite accent colour of them all. This desk lamp is well priced and adds a hit of happy. From @home for R369.
I was just looking around yesterday thinking I’d love to get some wall stickers to pep up a space in my lounge and I love the hand-drawn feel of these dots from Stickaroo, R320 for a pack of 90 dots in the colour of your choice.
Baskets with pom-poms, what’s not to love? Endlessly useful and totes adorable. R349 from Superbalist
Right on trend, this copper and glass tray is perfect for drinks or glassware. Or display interesting vignettes of pretty glass bottles, vintage knick knacks with small houseplants or show off a curious collection of natural ephemera like crystals. R399 from Woolworths
I know Vicki recently featured the Biotica range by Handmade By Me’s Sera Holland and floral artist Alex Learmont but if I was going to tell you to invest in any beautiful scatter cushions (brilliant for an instant update of pattern and colour) it would be these. They are perfection. R450 from the Handmade By Me online shop.
The skull thing is a bit done but Mr Price Home has got it right with these cool and colourful watercolour-style prints that come already framed in a simple white wooden frame. A total steal at R99 each.
Zana have done these really cool retro-inspired textile tapestries, either with a slogan or a very lovely abstract peach print. As they say, ‘a simple solution to a large open wall space that needs something beautiful ASAP!’. R350 each.
Pineapple figurines live on the right side of kitsch street and I love these metallic glass jars for trinkets, jewellery and other little objects – or simply for display. R149 each at H&M
In my line of work I’ve seen and written about gazillions of chairs, but I keep coming back to the simplicity of the iconic Tolix cafe chairs and stools as one of my personal favourites. At R550 each from Esque these Tolix replica dining stools are a bargain and can be used all over the home: from the bathroom for folded towels to a living area as a pot plant stand or as functional, portable seating inside and out.
Happy day lovelies.
