• Don’t you just love embroidered cloths and napkins and tea towels? I’m lucky enough to have an old chest full of beautiful vintage embroidered linen that belonged to my grandmother on my late father’s side. If there’s one thing I don’t believe in, it’s saving ‘best’ for special occasions. I use my tablecloths all the time, my daughter uses the napkins for her doll tea parties, and I’ve got two old lace tablecloths that I’ve converted (aka just hung up) in the study as window coverings (I can’t really call them curtains but they do the job of shading the room and giving it a bit of pretty character). I’ve been wondering what else I could do with some of the cloths so gathered these ideas that you may like too. From wedding dress accents to cushion covers and tote bags to bunting as well as patchwork throws and kimono-style jackets, I LOVE all of them! If you’re not great with the sewing machine, there are plenty of tailors and seamstresses who’ll be able to make you something lovely. Raid your mom or gran’s cupboards or visit bric-a-brac markets and second hand stores to find pretty linen. The more mismatched, the better.
